15 - The Devil

The Devil

The devil is sitting there on his throne or is it just a post. He is looking really big and stern, ready to scorch everyone with his torch.. A man and a woman, Adam and Eve by the looks, are tied to the same ring on the post. They themselves have become little devils with horns and tails. However it seems their capture are more in the mind, since the nooses around their necks are loose enough that they could just lift them over their heads and be free.

The problem is that they have kept feeding the devil with too much of something. It could be an addiction to daydreaming, thinking, fame, the clichd lust, work, being loved instead of loving, or any kind of 'normal' drug. An addiction let unchecked for too long and suddenly the little horns are there. But the moment we let it go, the horns and idea of imprisonment also goes.

How do I let an addiction go ? I may have to indulge in it completely and come out on the other side transcended. The devil can never get a hold on us, unless we let him in, we are our own devils.

Keywords: Illusion, illusory pain and imprisonment, excessive thinking. A lesson of freedom, you are always free.
